Job Location: 1907 Freight Street, Laredo, Texas 78041      Employees Supervised: All Food Bank Employees      FLSA: Exempt

Salary: $65,000 to $85,000 DOE


General Description/Position Summary

To serve as Chief Executive Officer, directing the overall operations  of the organization in fulfilling its mission of providing hunger relief to the eight county service area in South Texas.  Executive Director develops and strengthens the Food Bank's  role in the community, its financial security, efficient use of resources, and is responsible for the creation of new programs and services.  Provide a sense of vision and leadership for the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop (with Board approval), implement and manage the Food Bank's Strategic and Operating Plans, including the annual budget.
  • Provide general management of the Food Bank.
  • Seek and solicit financial assistance from a wide range of sources including through grants, contracts and other opportunities for funding that match the Food Bank’s mission.
  • Ensure that Food Bank staffing requirements are met in accord with agreed upon plans.
  • Ensure that the organization complies with industry standards and local, state, federal, and Feeding America regulations.
  • Ensure that all programs are effective and viable.  Create new programs as needed to ensure the continuation of the Food Bank’s mission.
  • Act as official representative to all Food Bank stakeholders and constituents- State/Local Government, Feeding America, area Agencies, Donors, area Community Leaders, area hungry citizens, the Media, Texas Food Bank Network and Volunteers.
  • Attend all Board Meetings.
  • Must be able to make effective presentations to all segments of the community.
  • Manage Board development and maintain all Board records.
  • Work with the Board of Directors and staff in planning and developing goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Prepare the necessary reports and statistics as required by contract, funding agencies, certifying entities, regulatory agencies and other data requested by the Board of Directors
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.



  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university.
  • Five years experience in supervision, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
  • Knowledge of Fundraising, marketing, financial management, long-range planning and personal relations necessary.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business practices, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to think outside the box. 
  •  Must have good people skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of logistics and warehouse operations.
  • Must have working knowledge of fleet maintenance.
  • Must be bilingual, English and Spanish.
