Ranchers for the Hungry

Laredo and area ranchers are stepping up to the plate to help the food bank's mission of feeding the hungry by providing fresh, organic beef to feed the children in the Kids Cafés and Adopt-A-Family programs through the South Texas Food Bank's award winning initiative, Ranchers for the Hungry.

Since its inception, this donation initiative has been a "hit" with ranchers and hunters alike.  Many of children in several of our Kids Cafes have already enjoyed fresh, nutrition-rich hamburgers thanks to the generosity of several of our local ranchers.

At the 2011 LIFE Fair & Exposition in Laredo, Texas, a total of 10 steers, 10 hogs, and 15 sheeps and goats were sold and donated to the South Texas Food Bank's Ranchers for the Hungry.

Tano Tijerina is the current chairman of Ranchers for the Hungry -Webb County Division.

Judge Joe Rathmell is the chairman of the Zapata Division.

Our goal is to have at least one steer donated each month.

Donations to help cover meat processing fees are also welcome. All donations are tax deductible.
