United Way of Laredo

2011 United Way of Laredo Fundraising Campaign

The 2011 United Way of Laredo Fundraising Campaign started September 1 and will run thru the second week of November. During this time United Way member agencies undergo a "black out period" in which agencies cannot have or promote fundraising activities. However, you can continue to support your favorite member agency or agencies, like the South Texas Food Bank, by becoming a United Way Pacesetter. It is very easy and practical. Encourage your friends and family. Every little bit helps!

If you would like more information on how to become a United Way Pacesetter, contact the United Way of Laredo office by calling (956) 723-9113 or visiting their website: www.unitedwayoflaredo.org

United Way is an organization dedicated to helping people. This is accomplished by assessing community needs, raising funds, allocating resources, fostering volunteerism, and encouraging collaborative efforts to resolve community problems.

Did you know that two out of every three people in our community have used, or will use, a service funded by United Way of Laredo at some point in their lifetime?

United way of Laredo works with local agencies and partners to create a community where everyone enjoys lifelong health and social independence. Currently, United Way of Laredo is partnered with 26 agencies that include local chapters of national agencies, established local agencies and new agencies that address local emerging needs.

The objectives of these agencies include:

·         Preparing children for success through quality child-care programs other enriching opportunities.

·         Helping families become economically self sufficient.

·         Ensuring that victims of domestic violence, abuse and neglect are safe and recovering from harm.

·         Promoting healthy living and helping to identify health issues for all residents.

·         Helping to engage isolated seniors, socially and intellectually.

·         Meeting the basic needs of vulnerable individuals and families.

·         Providing opportunities and assistance to persons living with disabilities.

·         Helping those striving for self sufficiency to take advantage of job training, support services and learning opportunities.

United Way of Laredo’s vision is that Laredo will be a community where children, individuals, and families thrive, where neighbors care for each other, and where we are proud of the quality of life of all our residents.
