Adopt-A-Family

The South Texas Food Bank is able to reach out to many more needy people thanks to the Adopt-A-Family program. For only $120.00, you can provide a 30Lb. bag of food per month for an entire year!

By adopting a family in need, you can feel good knowing that you are doing something special for that family. You can partner with the food bank and make a real difference in someone’s life. Nothing is more basic than nutrition. Take away food and you take away life. The Adopt-A-Family program keeps food on the table and provides a lifeline to families having a difficult time.

We’re talking about just ten dollars a month..ten dollars that will touch a needy family in ways you can’t imagine. Hunger is a very real problem that affects so many of our families here in Webb and surrounding counties. Our poverty rate is just under 33%! That means one out of every three citizens lives in poverty and more that likely has a tough time keeping his or her family fed. Even worse, more than 42% of all children enrolled in public schools in Laredo are living at or below the poverty level! This is the reason why it is vitally important to adopt a family. If no one gets involved, what will happen to our families, children and senior citizens who are living with hunger? We shudder to think about what it’s like to starve to death, but without involvement from those who have been blessed with goof jobs and good education, that’s exactly what will happen. Maybe not today….maybe not tomorrow….but a lack of sound nutrition will eventually take it’s on those who are deprived, and death will be the outcome.

But there is hope for families who have been beaten down by life, and that is why Adopt-A-Family is so important. It shows that someone cares about them and that the help that they so desperately need has finally arrived. For just ten dollars a month, you can help save a family. Isn't it worth it? And shouldn't you do your part to fight hunger at its very core? It is so easy. Just call 956-726-3120 and say, 'I want to adopt a family', or fill out and mail us the Adopt a family application.

A sponsor can be a relative, friend or an organization and must pay $120.00 per family for one year.
Sponsor can choose the family or we can assign the next family on our waiting list. The South Texas Food Bank will let the sponsor know the name of the family

Recipient must be a low income family.
