Kids Cafe - The Beginning:

One late night in Savannah, Goergia two hungry children were found in a community center kitchen; the older boy was giving fruit and milk to the younger one. That is when in July 17, 1989, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Costal Goergia opened its kitchen to feed needy children. Eventually they launched thier first feeding program, exclusivly for needy children, in May of 1993 and trademarked by Second Harvest under the Kids Cafe banner. By 1998 there were over 120 Kids Cafes located in 40 cities in America.

Kids-Cafe2 Then, in 2000, the South Texas Food Bank (STFB) along with the Laredo Housing Authority was proud to open their first (6) six Kids Cafes; located in th Laredo Housing Authority Community Centers. Now, thw STFB opened five(5) more Kids Cafes in Rio Bravo, El Cenizo, the Boys & Girls Club, Farm Labor and Larga Vista.
