Join the South Texas Food Bank in supporting
Laredo Medical Center's Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to fight hunger in South Texas!
What is Jars of Love?
Jars of Love is a peanut butter drive hosted by
Laredo Medical Center as part of its commitment to
fighting hunger in South Texas. Through this initiative, they
proudly support the South Texas Food Bank and our
ongoing hunger relief efforts.
The drive runs from March 3rd to the 24th, collecting peanut butter donations across our service area to help those in need. This marks the third year of this impactful campaign, and its reach is expanding to include local businesses and community centers across the South Texas area.
Every jar donated will go directly to families in Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Val Verde, Maverick, Kinney, Dimmit, and Starr counties.

Why Peanut Butter?

Peanut butter is one of the most valued donations for food banks. As a nutritious staple rich in protein, it is widely available, easy to store, and simple to distribute. Your donation of just one jar of peanut butter will help feed those in need, especially in our local communities.
It also provides food banks like ours with greater flexibility, as its long shelf life allows us to manage inventory efficiently without the urgency of immediate distribution.
Best of all, our neighbors love peanut butter!

Jars of Love Supporters

“We recognize the impact hunger has on an individual’s health and wellbeing, and we want to help those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity,” says Jorge Leal, FACHE, CEO, Laredo Medical Center (seen here wearing his famous Mr. Peanut suit). “A large number of people in Laredo are facing food insecurity. Our Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive is a great way to partner with community members to reduce hunger in our area.”
