Laredo Medical Center Peanut Butter Drive Returns in benefit of the South Texas Food Bank

For the second consecutive year, Laredo Medical Center hosted its Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to benefit the South Texas Food Bank. This drive is organized in celebration of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day.

Through their tremendous efforts, they raised over 3,440 jars of peanut butter, but they did not do it alone. They enlisted the assistance of many important community organizations, such as the Laredo Heat, Los Tecolotes, and several schools throughout Laredo.

An exciting aspect of this year’s drive was the challenge set by their CEO, Jorge Leal. He challenged his staff to collect 2,100 jars, promising to dress up as Mr. Peanut if the goal was achieved. They not only met but blew by this target, leading to a fantastic picture of Mr. Leal in full Mr. Peanut costume!

This food drive has become an essential staple of our year, and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts. Peanut butter is one of the most effective foods to donate due to its high nutritional value and relatively low cost. It is also extremely delicious and always requested by our neighbors.

Thank you to  Laredo Medical Center for their continued support and to the many community partners that supported this food drive. Their efforts ensure that nutritious food reaches those in need, making a significant impact on our community. •
