To exemplify Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s commitment to volunteering and community building, we held a National Day of Service this past Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Various groups participated in the event. They dedicated their time to packing bags for our CSFP Program, which is our largest and most impactful program. Our CSFP program assists over 14,000 people monthly, with almost all of those bags assembled locally at our facility. The South Texas Food Bank proudly holds the largest caseload of CSFP clients in the State of Texas.
The support from volunteers through events like these is invaluable and crucial to our operations. The amount of hours donated to the food bank annually makes the difference between meeting the high demands of our programs and falling short. Without the support of volunteers, meeting that caseload would be nearly impossible.
Thanks to the community's dedication, over 700 bags were packed and distributed throughout South Texas, showcasing the power of community.
