Peanut Butter Bowl Scores Big for South Texas Food Bank

This year, we had our best Peanut Butter Bowl yet! Thanks to the incredible efforts of the participating schools, the support from both districts (Laredo Independent School District & United Independent School District), and our amazing community, we raised a total of 5,512 pounds of peanut butter. This peanut butter was distributed across our eight districts to provide healthy protein for our neighbors.

The Peanut Butter Bowl is a series of games that kick off the football season, where teams collect peanut butter to donate to the South Texas Food Bank.

The event takes place across Texas, uniting the love of football and community. This marks the third year that the South Texas Food Bank has been the recipient, and we couldn’t be more proud of the support from our local schools.

“The Peanut Butter Bowl has become a staple event here at the South Texas Food Bank, and it’s very heartwarming to see high schools come together with their feeder elementary and middle schools to raise peanut butter for a great cause. We thank these schools from the bottom of our hearts and want them to know their donation truly makes a difference,” said Alma Boubel, CEO of the South Texas Food Bank.

This year's event was supported by the following schools:

Dr. Leo G. Cigarroa High School

United High School

J.B. Alexander Bulldog Football
